About the school

The single-cycle master's degree in Veterinary Medicine (LM-42) is delivered by the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (DMVPA) at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, one of the oldest public universities in the world (founded in 1224).

The programme holds EAEVE accreditation ("full approval"): Federico II was the first university in Central-Southern Italy to achieve this recognition. The degree programme management system is also ISO 9001:2015 certified.

A distinctive feature is the Integrated Teaching Hub (Polo Didattico Integrato), comprising the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno and ASL Napoli 1 Centro — an organisational model that greatly expands clinical training opportunities.

Verified at mvpa-unina.org and unina.it, plus EAEVE coverage (Regione Campania, Kodami), June 2026. Places from DM 600/2025. Fees subject to annual revision.

FAQ

Is there still an entrance test for Veterinary Medicine in Naples?
No. From 2025/26 the TOLC-VET has been abolished: admission is through the open semester (free enrolment) and a national merit ranking based on the scores of three exams (Chemistry, Physics, Biology). There is no pre-university entrance test.
Is the Federico II Veterinary programme EAEVE-accredited?
Yes. Federico II holds EAEVE accreditation ("full approval") and was the first university in Central-Southern Italy to achieve this recognition. The degree is recognised across the EU under Directive 2005/36/EC. The management system is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
What is the Integrated Teaching Hub (Polo Didattico Integrato)?
It is a training network between the DMVPA (Federico II), the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno and ASL Napoli 1 Centro. This model gives students access to additional clinical facilities and caseloads beyond the DMVPA alone, greatly expanding practical training opportunities.
Where is the programme based in Naples?
The DMVPA — and the 24/7 University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (OVUD) — is at via Federico Delpino 1, Naples. The campus is accessible by public transport (bus, metro line 2, Fuorigrotta/Campi Flegrei stop).
How affordable is it to live in Naples as a veterinary student?
Naples is one of the most affordable large Italian university cities: shared-flat rooms typically cost €300–450/month, with a total estimated monthly budget of €600–900. Compared to Milan or Rome, the cost of living is significantly lower. ADISURC offers scholarships, accommodation and subsidised catering.
