About the school

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Murcia was established in 1982 (Royal Decree 1470/1982) and was among the first Spanish faculties to undergo evaluation by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE).

Its Veterinary Medicine degree is EAEVE-accredited: following approval in 2007 and full accreditation in 2017, the status was renewed in May 2024 and remains valid until February 2031. All degrees also follow ANECA verification and accreditation processes.

The qualification entitles graduates to practise as veterinarians throughout the EU (Directive 2005/36/EC). Teaching is delivered in Spanish.

Campus & Facilities

The Faculty is part of the Espinardo Campus, the main campus of the University of Murcia, about 6 km from Murcia city centre. It has occupied its current building since 1990.

For practical training, the Faculty has its own Veterinary Teaching Hospital (HCV), Teaching Farm, and a Food Science and Technology Pilot Plant. The Murcia region, primarily agricultural and livestock-based, provides an excellent setting for clinical and production animal training.
